The Prime Minister of Nepal says that Nepal is on the verge of a humanitarian crisis because of an economic embargo allegedly imposed by India. He said that the embargo is thwarting his dreams of making Nepal a vibrant Himalayan nation. Due to protests and demonstrations at the Nepal-India border-entry points, thousands of Nepal- bound freight vehicles are stuck on the Indian side of the border because of which Nepal is facing a severe shortage of essential commodities. So why this problem with India?
Nepal has recently unveiled a new constitution. People from the Madhesi ethnic minority (of Indian descent) in the southern plains have protested since September against the new constitution which they say leaves them underrepresented and politically marginalized.
India has urged Nepal to amend its constitution in line with the demands of the Madhesi people even as New Delhi denies any role in the border blockade. But imagine Nepal accusing India for its crisis!What a pack of bull! When Nepal was rocked by the earthquake recently, who was it who arrived first on the scene and gave them a helping hand in an unprecedented manner?And in return for our help, we ended up being branded as being insensitive to the sufferings of the Nepalis. And now this! India has always been the biggest benefactor of Nepal.
